The Observer home page uses media language to create meaning in many ways. The sense of order and formality is strengthened through the use of a limited colour palette of a royal blue and white, both colours connote maturity and seriousness. This conveys to the observer reader that they can trust the contents of the website.

the clear sections of the home page, which include ‘news’, sport’
and ‘special features’.
