Exam Question4

On the cover of this mojo magazine, the main splash of the musician is also the boldest, eye-capturing image on the entire cover. His head covers the head-mast due to that we have a tendency to already be familiar with the brand mojo, and it's clearly evident what it says. However, it's vital that this artist's head covers the word, because that's how we all know he's the most important thing on the cover, and so, the largest musician featured inside the magazine. To support this concept, his name is the next biggest word featured, apart from the mast-head. This way, we all know even more about the face on the cover and how "Ray Davies" is the largest topic.

The magazine , in addition, colour-coordinates around the musician. the main colour features are black, white and red. this offers the impression that the magazine is mature. The main-splash supports this by not staring directly at the reader - instead he is staring into space which therefore creates an increased reference of sophistication. The yellow adds a distinctive touch to the cover by being rather more fun coloured and representing the more exciting elements of the magazine.

  1. Mark 2 out of 5. Whilst you have done good analysis of the detail in the media language (well done), aim to see the bigger picture as this question is about representation.
Your focus needs to be more on the representation (= how he /they come across?)
