Observer Messages and Values Q9

1.  The biggest use of newspapers is to inform the public
what is going on in the world. The Observer knows that its readers are serious and interested in international affairs, therefore the observer cover this topic in their newspapers. This can be seen in hard news articles about Brexit and major things happening in other countries.
2. The Observer meets its audience's need for a  large range of sporting, cultural and artistic news. It provides these with talking about music.
3. The Observer does not shy away from 'difficult' issues that could make uncomfortable reading, such as Grenville Tower or the recent shootings in Kenya.
4.  The Observer has different sections which are designed to appeal to
different types of readers. The Observer reflects the cultural and ethical diversity of its readership in articles on the 'Slums in India' headline, where they talk about Life in Slums, How they live and what they deal with.
5.  Newspaper readership can still be used as a symbol of a persons social identity. The Observer Guardian likes to be open minded so therefore the reader can make their own opinions on the subject, whereas other newspapers may influence a readers opinion on a certain issue.

6. Newspapers tend to entertain people through forms of games and puzzle in newspapers that allows the reader to interact and solve crosswords. This form of entertainment is fun, yet still fits the theme of a serious newspaper that people can trust in.
