CUFFS

The function for an opening sequence in a TV program is that it tells your the story line and the characters of the upcoming episodes so you understand what is going to happen and who are the main characters. In the opening sequence of Cuffs it shows you the main character who is a policeman and his role in society and fighting crime. It also shows his new partner in crime who is also a main character, he is new to the job and is the son of the boss.

The opening sequence appealed to the audience as very intense as he tried to break up a fight on a nude beach, we were then thrown back when the policeman gets a punch to the face this appeals to the audience as a very cinematic TV series.

There are many aspects in the title sequence that tell a story about Brighton's Diversity, for example The nude beach and the people attacking them shows there are many people that dislike other members of the public.

The spread of different characters engaged the different strands of the mains stream audience by showing us the lives of different people in Brighton and what happened to them. For example the man who stabbed the Indian guy and what happened to him in the end. Also the little girl who was taken by her dad and the man who slit his wrists in his house.

Cuffs is before the watershed but i believe it should be after the watershed because it has scenes of nudity and violence in the program which i think is not appropriate for kids under the age of 12. Many parents even restrict there children from watching programs past 8:30.
